Little treasures
The Coverfront started with a student who kept his records against the wall, sleeves facing out. Piet Hein liked how the room changed every time he swapped one. Filing them spine-first felt like hiding them: “they’re all like little treasures.”
Years later a friend, also a collector, had heard enough about it. “Now you finally have to make something.” During a holiday Piet Hein built a prototype from leftover wood and took it to the workshop he already worked with. Together they turned it into a system: one element that you repeat, up and sideways.

The idea has not changed
Two things matter. The sleeve at the front is artwork you can change every day. And everything behind it stays easy to flip through, so you find the record you are looking for and play more than the same twenty.
Piet Hein on camera
In 2023 a vinyl YouTuber visited our former showroom in Amsterdam and asked Piet Hein everything: where the idea came from, why the sides slope, how the records stay put, and how it compares with a Kallax.
Recorded in 2023. Some things in it we no longer offer, such as drawers, veneer and the showroom, and prices, delivery and shipping have changed since, so for current details go by this website. The story has not changed.
Who we are now

Ophon is Piet Hein Clijsen, who designed the cabinet, and Johan van de Werken, who started as a customer in 2025 and now runs the shop with him. The cabinets are produced in the Netherlands.
Made to last, and to move
A Coverfront is built to stay with you for decades, not until the next move. It comes apart, moves house with you and goes back together. Nothing is glued that cannot be unscrewed, and a damaged panel can be replaced on its own. How it works shows what it is made of and how it goes together.
Who answers when you write
When you write to us, you get an answer from Piet Hein or Johan, usually within two working days. Our customers say it better than we can: “Every detail has been thought through. You would expect a much bigger company behind it,” and “They packaged the Coverfront with great care and it made its way here without any issues.” You can read all of it in our 49 reviews on Google, 5.0 on average. If the honest answer is the smaller cabinet, or no cabinet yet, that is what you will hear.
