Turntable stand with record storage

A record cabinet you can put your turntable on. Every Coverfront that is one or two compartments high and at least two elements wide has a flat top you can use as a turntable stand, with your collection cover-forward underneath.

One compartment high puts the top at 89 cm: worktop height, and the one to take if you are unsure. Two compartments high is 129 cm, for when you like your deck at eye level. Whether your turntable fits, the dust cover and the cables: it is all below the cabinets.

Two working heights

  • One compartment high, 89 cm. Worktop height. Comfortable for almost everyone to cue a record standing up. If you are unsure, take this one.
  • Two compartments high, 129 cm. A high setup. It works and it looks striking, but you reach up to place the needle and you no longer look down on the cartridge. Good if you are tall or you like your deck up at eye level. Honestly: not for everyone.

Will my turntable fit?

The top is 37.5 cm deep and 37 cm wide per element.

  • Two elements wide or more (73 cm and up): room for a full-size turntable and space left over for the record you are about to play. This is what we run ourselves: an Audio-Technica deck on a two-wide, one compartment high.

The dust cover and the cables, honestly

A full-size turntable is about 36 cm deep, so it fits on a 37.5 cm top, but a dust cover needs clearance behind it to open and its hinges usually sit behind the plinth. The trick we use at home: stand the cabinet against a skirting board so there is a gap behind it, and set the deck slightly forward, feet on the top, front edge just over the front. The cover then opens freely.

There is room for your cables behind the cabinet. It is not a tidy built-in cable channel, and we would rather tell you that than pretend otherwise. Send us the make and model of your deck and we will tell you straight whether it works.

Something other than a rectangle

Descending steps, a pyramid, a low run with a taller column at each end: any arrangement with at least two neighbouring columns at the same height of one or two compartments gives you a surface for your turntable. Those shapes are made from exactly the same elements, with a coupling wall where two heights meet, so you build them in the configurator.

How many records do you have?
