Terms of service

Who you are dealing with

Ophon B.V., Arie van de Heuvelstraat 9, 3981 CT Bunnik, the Netherlands. Registered with the Dutch Chamber of Commerce under number 42130829, VAT number NL869861827B01. You can reach us at info@ophon.eu, and that is the fastest way to reach us about anything on this page.

What these terms cover

They apply to every order placed through this shop. They are written for consumers buying in the European Union. If you are buying as a business, write to us first: we are happy to supply businesses, but we agree the terms for that separately and this page does not govern it.

You need to be eighteen or over to order.

You can order in any of the languages this shop offers. These terms were written in English. The translations are there to help you read them; where a translation differs from the English text, the English text is the one that applies. We keep a record of your order, and you get a copy by email as soon as you have ordered.

How an order becomes a contract

Putting a cabinet in your basket is not yet an order. When you complete checkout you make us an offer, and the contract exists once we confirm your order by email. If we cannot accept it, we say so and refund you in full.

Very occasionally a price or a specification on the site is obviously wrong. If that happens we will tell you before anything is made or shipped, and you can either confirm the order at the corrected price or cancel it and get your money back. We will not quietly ship you something different from what you ordered.

Prices

Prices are in euro and include VAT. Shipping is charged separately and you see the amount before you pay; the rates are on our shipping page.

The price that counts is the one shown at the moment you order. If we change our prices afterwards, that does not affect an order we have already confirmed.

Payment

We take the full amount at checkout. That is deliberate rather than lazy: most cabinets are made after you order them, and your payment is what puts your order into the production run. Nothing is ordered from the workshop before it is paid for.

We accept the payment methods shown at checkout. Your card and payment details go to our payment provider and never reach us.

Delivery

The delivery time you were shown when you ordered is the one we are working to. How it is worked out, what shipping costs, and what happens if we are late, are all on our shipping page.

Your cabinet travels at our risk. It is yours from the moment it is delivered to you or to someone you asked to take it in.

Colours and materials

Colours on a screen are an approximation. Every screen shows them differently, and a photograph or a swatch on this site is a guide, not a sample.

We spray-paint cabinets to the RAL Classic reference you choose, or to the standard white or black of the product you ordered. A cabinet painted to that reference is the colour you ordered, even where it looks different from what you saw on your screen. Satin or matte, the light in your room and the surface underneath all change how the same RAL colour looks. If the exact shade matters to you, check it on a physical RAL chart before you order, or write to us first.

Birch plywood is a natural material. The grain and the tone of the visible edges differ from panel to panel and from what you see in our photographs. That is part of the material and not a defect.

None of this affects your right to change your mind, or your rights if something is genuinely wrong with the cabinet.

Changing your mind

Fourteen days from delivery, no reason needed, for standard sizes bought as a consumer in the European Union. The conditions, the exclusions and the model form are in our refund policy.

If something is wrong with it

You are entitled to a cabinet that is what you could reasonably expect it to be, for at least two years from delivery. If it is not, we repair it or replace it at no cost to you. This is separate from changing your mind, and nothing on this page limits it.

It does not cover normal wear, damage you caused yourself, or a cabinet put together differently from the instructions.

What we are responsible for

If we get something wrong, we put it right: we repair, replace, or refund. What we do not accept responsibility for is loss beyond that, such as time you lost, work you had to redo, or damage to other things, unless that loss is our fault in a way the law does not let us exclude. Where we are liable, our liability is limited to what you paid for the order.

None of this affects your statutory rights as a consumer, and it does not apply where the loss results from intent or gross negligence on our part.

Things outside our control

If we cannot do what we promised because of something genuinely outside our control, such as a fire at the workshop, a failure of supply, or a carrier that stops running, our obligations pause for as long as that lasts. We tell you what is happening and what it means for your order. If it goes on so long that waiting is unreasonable, either of us can end the contract and we refund what you have paid for anything not delivered.

Our designs and our images

The Coverfront cabinet, its design, the name Ophon, the photographs and the texts on this site are ours or used with permission. You are welcome to share them and to link to us. You may not copy the design to make or sell cabinets, and you may not use our images or texts commercially, without our written permission.

The cabinet you buy is yours to do with as you like. This is about copying the design, not about the cabinet in your living room.

Your details

What we collect and what we do with it is in our privacy policy. In short: what we need to make and deliver your order, and to answer you when you write to us.

Complaints

Write to info@ophon.eu and you get a reply within two working days. If we cannot work it out between us, you can put the matter to an alternative dispute resolution body in your own country. We are not affiliated with a particular one. If you bought from outside the Netherlands, the European Consumer Centre in your country can help you find the right route.

Which law applies

Dutch law applies to these terms and to any contract under them, and disputes go to the competent Dutch court. If you are a consumer living elsewhere in the European Union, this does not take away the protection of the mandatory consumer rules of the country you live in, and you can also bring a case before the court of your own country.

Changes to these terms

We may change these terms. The version that applies to your order is the one that was on this page when you ordered, and we keep it with your order record.
